State of the Region Address
#1
Citizens, Friends, Colleagues, and united South Pacificans,

The following message will be kept as concise as possible. As much as I delight in twirling words, manipulating letters, and constructing unyielding paragraphs of oratory, I realize that that neither commands attention nor allows for the clearest interpretation of my intent.

The last few days have strained me. My phrases and essays have not held back the floods of my frustration, and the region has been mired in a quagmire of debate and argument.

Granted, passion has been brought to the table. Eagerness, concern, methodical ideas, but the activity we are experiencing is not ones that strengthens us, but rather divides us.

How do I factor into this as Prime Minister? Especially one serving without electoral mandate, I toe a precarious line. The embodiment of a leader involves many unique and vital traits. One of those traits is flexibility and the ability to adapt.

You can have passion, skills at writing, strong ideas, but if you cannot adapt to various circumstances you will find yourself lost. This is a trait that I struggle with, and it is clear.

The South Pacific is not my native region. I operate under different basic assumptions, ideals, and thoughts. If I were in any other position I could hide behind this provision and claim ignorance, but a leader must be flexible.

It is my intent to work in a different way. To discover the errors I have made, and try to mend bridges I may have burnt. We all want to benefit the region, and while my motives were pure, the current times call for better leadership than I have been providing.

To the "old guard." You have my apologies. But more than that, you have a commitment. I will make more mistakes, I will probably step over the line again. But I shall attempt to avoid the same ones as often as possible.

A leader steps up, and not back. I pondered the last few hours over resignation, but I believe that I am a leader, and I believe I am capable of helping to forge a new era of South Pacific history. But I shall only do it side by side, with all members of this region.

If I prove incapable, I shall not fool myself and cling to this office. But today I start anew with a renewed commitment to holding this post in the dignity of my predecessors.

Yours,

Bizarre scenario: Unibot asked you a non-loaded question about TNI or the UDL. How would you react?
