- The Council of Nine voted to revise the rules for regions requesting to establish diplomatic relations with XKI. The Co9 also approved the application for a new business: XKI Military Consulting.

- Woonsocket has stepped down as Minister of Immigration. MinnaCaroline has been named his replacement.

- With MinnaCaroline being named Minister of Immigration, the New Republica South seat is now open until until an Interim Senator can be named. Furthermore, Tsim Sha Tsui is now Senior Senator.

Political Events

- Two elections were held in January for the Senators representing New Republica South and Blue Canaria North. Markanite won the seat for New Republica South by a decisive 83%.
- In the race for Blue Canaria north, things were much closer. The General election featured:
? Defender Party candidate and TITO Knight Valoniah
? The Islands Party Candidate Malecia
? Independent Candidate Ater Nox

In the General Election, Malecia and Valoniah tied at 21 votes each, with Ater Nox picking up 9 votes. This forced a run-off between the top Valoniah and Malecia, since nobody earned a majority. Malecia won the run-off by a single vote in one of the closest elections in 10000 Islands history.

- In addition to being elected Senator, Markanite has earned the title of TITO Knight, a rare distinction only awarded to 55 other nations in the history of the region. The title of Knight is conferred upon those who have earned 50 battlestars.

Political Events

March promises to be a very busy month in XKI Politics. The position of Regional Delegate will be up for grabs as well as the two Senate seats from Himes West and Lyonesse East. Walabama has declared his intent to run for delegate, thus leaving the Himes West seat open for a new Senator. Paffnia has declared his intent to run for re-election for Lyonesse East. Under current law, the seat for Delegate must be vacated at the end of each term. Because of this rule, Enigmatic Nation will be concluding his term as Delegate. During his term, ?Enig? represented the Islands with professionalism and pride. He has set the benchmark for all who follow. We in the Islands are grateful for his outstanding leadership during his term.

-The Recruiting Team continues to do an outstanding job of bringing in new nations. For his recruiting efforts, Boltor was granted his own House.

-The Council of 9 passed a new Resolution adding to the duties of the Senator for Blue Canaria North. Under this Resolution, the BCN Senator will be writing a ?Featured Nation? article at least bi-monthly, and will post it in a thread for others to read. The first nation featured was Boltor.

March was a very busy month in XKI politics.



- Two elections were held in March for the Senate, and the Delegate election was held as well.



- In the Senate, Paffnia ran for re-election for Lyonesse East. His opponent Robloxica managed to collect 20 votes, but Paffnia?s 52 vote total proved to be too much to surmount. Paffnia thus retained his seat with a plurality.



-In Himes West, things were much closer. Walabama vacated his seat to run for Delegate, thus leaving the Himes West seat open. The Islands Party Primary was won by Ater Nox. In the General Election, he faced Independent candidates Aersoldorf and Glasgia. Under XKI election statutes, a candidate must win by a minimum of 50%, or else a runoff will result. Thus, Aersoldorf and Ater Nox faced each other in the region?s second consecutive run-off. In the runoff, Aersoldorf prevailed by a 14 vote margin.



-The Delegate race featured a group of well known Islanders. Ananke, Walabama, and Shizensky all vied for the Delegate seat. Ananke prevailed by a large margin over the other candidates, thus winning the Delegate?s seat.

Taco Island continues to be the number one destination for fun and Tacos. <a class='bbc_url' href='http://10000islands.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Entertainment&action=display&thread=22907&page=1'>Werewolf 13</a> kicked off in the middle of the month and is being moderated by Firstaria.

While Shelter from the Storm tend to be a popular guy it seems like not everyone agree with how he?s running Taco Island. A topic dealing with his <a class='bbc_url' href='http://10000islands.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Entertainment&action=display&thread=22940&page=1'>overthrow</a> was recently posted and have already garnered 6 pages of discussion. At this point in time it seems to have morphed into a vanity thread for Major Shelter though.
