Special Delegate Election Enabling Act

Preamble:

So as to meet the firmly expressed general desire of the region for fresh elections, considering that the current executive is headed by individuals appointed due to the necessity produced by the actions of the last elected Delegate, the Assembly hereby calls for and authorizes the holding of a special and extraordinary election for the offices of Delegate and Vice-Delegate.

 

Article 1: June 2013 Special Election

1. A special election for the offices of Delegate and Vice-Delegate is convened to occur in the month of June 2013.
   
2. This special election will begin within 24 hours of the passage of this legislation.
   
3. This special election will be conducted via the normal procedures in accordance with Article 1 of the Code of Laws, with two exceptions;
   
4. Firstly, the date of the election (Article 1, Clause 4) is altered.
   
5. Secondly, the requirement that candidates and voters have been citizens for a minimum seven days (Article 1, Clause 1) is suspended.
   

Article 2: Expiry

1. This document will remain in effect until the conclusion of the special election and will automatically be repealed 30 days after its passage.
