Live reporting: Carta coups TSP
#76
The FRA's New Sorvun has made a statement regarding the coup:
<p class="bbc_center"><img src='http://z4.ifrm.com/30223/146/0/p1134123/New_Sorvun_Emblem_v3_2_copy.png' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' />

Statement regarding The South Pacific coupApril 22, 2013

This past weekend the feeder region The South Pacific fell into the grasp of a Rogue Delegate. Milograd has taken the power to rule The South Pacific for himself ejection thousands of native nations and incorporated foreign backers to prop his regime up.  He has defied the democratic coalition government of The South Pacific for his own personal agenda.  New Sorvun knows all to well of such betrayal and we will not stand idly by and let another region succumb to the same fate.  New Sorvun shall pledge diplomatic support, and if need be render military aid to The South Pacific to return the delegate seat to the legitimate, governmentally-mandated, democratically-elected individual. Milograd is not the first to attempt a coup in The South Pacific, and surely is not the first who thinks that just because you have the seat of power in a region that the region is your property and its residents be damned. We must make a stand against Milograd and his kind. Each region determines its own fate, however regions are not playgrounds for its founders and delegates to torment at their whim, and this is why New Sorvun stands a beacon of hope because we will not let anyone threaten our way of life, whether it be raiders or a belligerent founder, we will stand by The South Pacific's side to see order restored, and let it be known that this will not be tolerated anywhere in Nationstates. Likako A. NehioLord Chancellor of the Second Republic of New Sorvun.

I've had some 8 years of fun building up my own state and exploring decisions, and I've managed to do so by being left alone by the different people who have run the region in that time. In the last two days, you and your little band of cronies have wantonly made this game an absolute farce for everyone else. It may be fun to you people, but it has really gone too far. Just pick another region to yell your pro-commie slogans and let the whole region go back to the way it was. I don't care if it's just a little role-playing. You wanna play roles? Go play in the corner with your little friends. STOP affecting how the rest of the region goes about their lives on NS.

So are they rebelling against Milo or against the people who he left to pick up the pieces after he quit?

To the Nations of The South Pacific,

Of all the regions I have visited, your region made its mark on me. With true sincerity, TSPers are friendly and open. It is a tragedy when a game created region is subject to a rogue delegate, how much more so when that delegate has betrayed the electorate that placed their hope and trust in him?

Therefore, with the unanimous consent of our regional assembly, I proudly proclaim Atrigeas' support for the Exiled Natives of The South Pacific and Constitutional Government from ten days ago. We will not recognize any TSP government other than the former Charter and its Legitimate Cabinet. Further, we condemn Milograd for the illegal mass ejections of hundreds of natives
.
Unfortunately, Atrigeas can do no more than write an angrily worded letter to Milograd and his supporters. It is Atrigeas' hope that a solid wall of public opposition will spell defeat for his reign of terror and the return of TSP's democratic spirit.

Good Luck & Godspeed, --People United Together, WAD of Atrigeas

As it stands:

With about 15 hours left in the vote to recall Milograd from the Delegate seat (25/04/13 @ 14:40 BST, 04/25/13 @ 08:40 EDT), the vote is 30-2 (94%) in favor, which is well above the 80% needed.

<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Verdana, Tahoma;font-size:13px;">Hi SB,
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Verdana, Tahoma;font-size:13px;">Feel free to post this message where the rest of the region and forum-goers and TSP natives can see (maybe TSP's forums?). I can't help with the liberation effort due to retirement and stuff, but I did want to pass on a message of hope and whatnot. Good luck SB and I hope your liberation effort goes well.

<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Verdana, Tahoma;font-size:13px;">To whom it may concern,
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Verdana, Tahoma;font-size:13px;">Amity and resolve: these are the values that have always made The South Pacific free and fair. Under the blue and black, there stand one thousand fairest hearts ready for battle and yearning for the Coalition once more.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Verdana, Tahoma;font-size:13px;">I cannot take arms, but I can speak words and the words I wish to speak are to you and you alone. The South Pacific’s waters have been the calmest of all the seas for years upon years, but this week they have been marked bloody and crimson with treachery.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Verdana, Tahoma;font-size:13px;">I cannot speak of all past events, but I can speak clearly of the future ahead. There is a traitor and he has supporters, the region and its friends must be rise above them and claim victory -- there is no complexity or equivocation in freedom, only laboriousness and the challenge hereafter. The traitor will lie and circulate propaganda, but these words remain only that, lies and propaganda, without grounds on which to stand. A traitor cannot wish away a constitution not being upheld, a bill of rights, unrecognized, a democracy, unobserved and most of all, a throng of good, honest citizens, unsatisfied.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Verdana, Tahoma;font-size:13px;">I can remember, when The South Pacific was last threatened, you spoke to the good in me and made me even more of a defender; there are thousands of hearts out there now that can be convinced of the same cause to help you free your region from peril and strife. Shout from mountain tops, attack from sure footing. Let the record show that The South Pacific did not yield.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Verdana, Tahoma;font-size:13px;">Yours,Unibot.

The voting period for the recall motion has ended and polls are closed

Based on preliminary results, there was a turnout of 32, with 30 voting AYE, 2 voting NAY and 0 voting ABSTAIN.

The percentage of AYES is therefore 93.75% and therefore, the 80% threshold to recall the Delegate Milograd has been passed

The above results are preliminary and not official. The Chair of Assembly (CoA) will have to certify the votes and publish the official results.

Thank you for your votes and participation in this democratic process.

Quote:<strong class='bbc'>Hileville Finally Shuts Milograd Up</strong>Citizens in the so called Revolution were stunned today when a lion tore into the halls of the Capitol and found a seat on their beloved Dictator, Milograd. A speech by Todd McCloud

Quote:<p class="bbc_center"><img src='http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/5098/teardownthiswall2.jpg' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' />

Todd showing off large eyebrows at his speech.
Mr. Milograd Tear Down this Wall!

Somewhere on the TSP/TEP Maritime border: NS <del>blowhard</del> fox guy thing Todd McCloud decided to speak out against the actions committed by a one Milograd in the warzone that has become The South Pacific. Sporting his angry eyebrows, the delegate voiced concerns over the illegitimate regime's choices in removing embassies, specifically with The East Pacific.

"When Mr. Milograd removed embassies of friendly regions, he effectively placed a curtain - a red, iron curtain - over the region of the South. This doesn't sit well with us in The East Pacific. I guess you could say it isn't kosher with us." The delegate paused as the laughter subsided. Everyone present of course knew of The South Pacific's longstanding traditions involving pickles. "But seriously, this curtain serves only to blind nations caught up in the chaos, thinly-laced under the hollow promises of influence reform, reform designed to free the dictator yet enslave the people he promised to serve!"

"Influence reform is ill-accomplished by such irresponsible actions," the delegate continued. "These actions have included the banishment of nearly one thousand prominent nations, the systematic murder of billions of individuals, the silencing of the government-in-exile from all World Factbook Presses, and in many cases is causing larger influence gaps within the region among other atrocities. The state-run media suggests otherwise, but in the world of the free press, these facts are well-known. It's just another pitfall these papers are, another barrier to freedom. If Mr. Milograd claims to free the people from so-called shackles, he has only done so to ensnare them in traps."

"We cannot, indeed will not stand for this. Such instability will likely only hasten the advancement of terrors committed in The South Pacific. Even the General Secretary must know this: his own regime is but a temporary one in its current state. Eventually peace and freedom will catch up, and order will be restored. To abate escalations, I suggest a different route. General Secretary Milograd, if you seek peace, if you seek freedom<strong> and prosperity for the people of The South Pacific, meet me at the border. Mr. Milograd, open up those embassies. Mr. Milograd, tear down this wall!"</strong>

The delegate wrapped up his speech about some typical political jargon. Somehow he managed to squeeze in "gerrymandering" in his speech, but it was towards the end when people were probably turning the channel or falling asleep. For those who didn't tune in for the entirety of the speech, he finished by welcoming refugees and providing them "safe, temporary placement" until the old government won. Because he was totally thinking he was a cowboy, and cowboys are cool.
