Sweeping reform legislation that was proposed in the Great Council has been moved to a vote. Our sources tell us it is expected to be a close vote on the final omnibus bill which includes massive reforms to the Charter and Laws of the South Pacific.

A few voters told SPINN that they are concerned with definitions used in the criminal code. Another issue with some voters is the renaming of the Army to New Southern Army. The Army was re-established in 2011 and given the name the South Pacific Army under then Minister of Security, Belschaft. The SPA as it is commonly referred to had several successful operations under former Minister of Security, Sheepa which included the occupation of Warzone Australia for over 270 days. The SPA has had a rebirth just a few weeks ago under new Minister of Security, Drugged Monkeys who supports the name change.

Much of the Great Council debates were focused around the Judiciary which has been an ongoing debate in the South Pacific for many years. The final proposal for the Judiciary was drafted by HEM, current Minister of Justice. SPINN has yet to confirm the details of the proposal but we have learned that a Supreme Court would be created which would lead to the separation of the Minister of Justice from the Cabinet.

The vote will last for seven days and will require a majority in favor for the reforms to pass.
