Let's play name the decade! What would you call it?

I'm leaving towards the Era of Misplaced Anxiety.

Change comes not when some group of radical seizes power, that’s just a shift at the top. It comes when Mr. And Mrs. Ordinary make a stand. When the cake shop owner and teacher and the bearer boy come together and say, ‘They are not afraid,’ anymore.

Corporations, which should be the carefully restrained creatures of the law and the servants of the people, are fast becoming the people's masters. -- Grover Cleveland

When the laws are used to make the rich richer and the potent more powerful, the humble members of society -- the farmers, mechanics, and laborers -- who have neither the time nor the means of securing like favors to themselves, have a right to complain of the injustice of their government -- Andrew Jackson

Probably. However, when I learned to count, I was told to start with "1".

I did the same thing with the turn of the millennium. To me, the end of the second millennium was December 31, 2000. The new millennium began January 1, 2001.

Then again, I'm old-fashioned like that.

</blockquote> That's what I was taught at school as well - in much the same way. The new millenium started on January 1, 2001.

It must be a Gen X thing lol ...

I have always referred to this decade as the noughties.

It happens each decade and at the turn of the 20th century, at least. People see the single change and assume, ah, new century. It's just numericallly wrong, though
