TSP Flag\Theme\Culture Redesign - Contest
#1
EDIT:  On hold

Hello everyone Smile

This is where I'll be leading the TSP flag\theme\culture redesign contest.  Everyone is invited to submit as many designs as they want.

The contest will run from 1/4/2014 - 1/18/2014 to give maximum time for artists to produce excellent work.

Since this is a process in which we may rebrand TSP please be as creative and open to new and old ideas as possible.  Submit a flag, a header, and a background image that work cohesively together.

What I'd like to see is:

1. The design(s)

( I suggest using imgur to upload and link images, let me know if you need help)

2. Name of the creator

3. Aesthetic Interpretation

One paragraph explaining your design, why you chose the particular elements\colors and what motto the design represents.

An example motto is: Friendship, Cooperation and Prosperity. FCP Smile

Rules

1. Flags must be in a 3:2 ratio as this is what the NS site re-sizes to (also I suggest PNG format)

2. Flags must not break any NS rules

3. Flags must be in good taste and appropriate for a PG-13 audience

4. Flags must be original designs or modified works under fair-use/creative commons guidelines; No plagiarism

5. Flags must not be derivative of other NS regions'; I will not allow someone to submit, for example, The Black Hawks' flag

6. Flags must not feature imagery reminiscent of criminal groups or individuals, NS or IRL

7. I will be highlighting designs on the RMB and running polls on the WFE for the best design.  At the end of the day this is our opportunity to give TSP a facelift.

On Judging:

An assembly discussion will help me narrow down to the top three finalists after which I will use the exciting new poll feature on the WFE and the region at large will decide!

P.S. I will be reformulating some of my old designs from this thread  and anyone is free to alter and use my creations as and if they wish Smile

Prizes

The winning artist will be the designer of a new TSP!

*Another prize to be announced closer to the closing date

"New Nation" flag realised in the regions colours to indicate that every nation in the region is automatically recognised as a citizen of TSP

Additionally, the colours could be interpreted as:

Blue: youth, spirituality, truth, and to represent the blue sky (thinking) of TSP

Black: self control, prepared for the unknown, potential - it could also signify the fertile earth of the volcanic south pacific islands (IRL), which although subject to tempestuous upheaval is fertile ground for new growth, new ideas.

White: purity of thought, a fresh beginning, clarity - it also represents the silvery moon that brings a cool breeze on a hot summer night to the basking South Pacific

Blue represents democracy and the Southern seas

Black represents determination and the liberty of man

White represents peace and the equality of man

The circle in the centre represents unity and the light that shines through

The Southern Cross (Crux) represents the people, united in a common goal, to carry the region from strength to strength

If I were to suggest a regional motto, I'd go for a take on the classic motto "Unita per ardua ad astra" which is Latin for " united through adversities to the stars". I believe this best embodies the courage and undying  of TSPers to overcome obstacles, united as one, to build a better tomorrow Smile

A republican flag for the region

Alternatively a revolutionary banner:

Another variant on a theme, although I think this might be reminiscent of Antariels:

The blotches is the map of TSP, created by B&T, the olive branches are representative of peace, and the colour turquoise is the official unofficial colour of TSP.

Credit is due to the UN for a base.

The red on top represents the sun, the red on the bottom represents fertile soil, and the white is as a neutral. The tree is obviously a tree.

Credit is due to the flag of the Cook Islands.

The blue once again is another shade of the official unofficial colour of TSP. The stars represent the compass points (Nrt., Nrt Est. Est. Sth.Est., etc.). The tree is a tree.

Credit is again due to the flags of the Cook Islands.

I'm gonna try to create more things in the near future.

Those latest flags from Letoilenoir are too NPO-ish for my taste. The first ones are awesome though. :)

Bordering needs work, firstly. I can easily see the box around the sun, and the removal of the sky in the lower image is very rough.
