Mid Term Senate Elections

The Allied Republics just finished its mid term Senate elections on December 11th. This is due to some complications in the Secretary of the Interior's Office, resulting in the election being late. The Justices of the Republics' Supreme Court then took matters into their own hands and started the poll thread to get the new senators into office. This Mid-Term election was rather uneventful. Only 6 candidates ran for the 5 open seats: Obito, CPSU, Lewis & Daniel, Queen Rebecca, Hunteiria, and Kevo. The election results are as follows:

Quote:Obito (RP) 21 (20.8%)

CPSU (IDP) 13 (12.9%)

Lewis & Daniel(IDP) 16 (15.8%)

Queen Rebecca (RP) 20 (19.8%)

Hunteiria (IDP) 17 (16.8%)

Kevo (RP) 14 (13.9%)

Congratulations to Obito, Lewis and Daniel, Queen Rebecca, Hunteiria, and Kevo for their election to the Republics' Senate! This election saw 2 senators leaving the legislature, Libertarian Washington and New Lafayette. It also saw 3 other senators re-winning their posts (Obito, Hunteiria, and Kevo) and 2 new senators coming into the fray (Lewis and Daniel and Queen Rebecca). Congratulations to all the winners of this mid-term election.

Libertarian Washington's Retirement

On the eve of the mid-term election, Libertarian Washington informed the region in a speech that he was not going to seek re-election and that he was going to retire from regional politics for some time. Libertarian Washington has served the Allied Republics as a Senator since last year and he has made major contributions to the region as a whole. One of the most active members of the region, his departure gives a bitter sweet feeling to many of his admirers. Nevertheless, he promises to come back into the spotlight, hopefully as President. The Allied Republics hopes that his promise is kept.

Acts of Union Between The Allied Republics and the United Republic of Nations

The Office of Delegate of the Allied Republics has been working closely with the government of the United Republic of Nations to bring the two regions together. After URoN President Leikistan formally requested a Republics' delegation and TAR President Crescellia's state visit, the ties between the two regions have become stronger. The idea of having other regions come under the Republics' banner as semi-autonomous territories has not been a new one. Since June, there has been talk about similar program. It finally became an official policy of the Office of Delegate when the TAR Senate passed the Statehood Act. This law provided for both RP and in-game territories of the Allied Republics. Delegate Tatu Rama finally got a chance to put the law to effect when the United Republic of Nations accepted a proposal for union. Although the first draft of the Act of Union was struck down in the Senate due to numerous objections, a compromise version seems very likely to pass soon that will bring the United Republic of Nations under TAR's wing.

Modern World Role Play

Several both official and free lance RPs have been going on in the Allied Republics with none of them picking up much speed or depth. However, a very successful role play theme re-emerged in the Allied Republics late this month: the Modern World RP. The Allied Republics has already held an official MWRP before and it was very successful. However, poor management of god-modding and hurt feelings between the players tainted the fun. It lasted several weeks until it finally petered out after several players became disinterested or either rage quit (many, many law suits resulted from this RP, so yeah). But it has come back, new and improved. It is not officially sanctioned by the regional government but rather it is a free lance RP started by an individual. Nevertheless, more thought has been put into the moderation of the role play, with two moderators, with absolute authority over god-modding and other unsightly RP behavior, being appointed. This RP is also blessed with several good RPers who have much experience, bringing in greater depth to the unfolding story. In all, this role play looks like it is picking up speed quickly and hopefully, it turns out bigger and better than the last one. Let's just see if they don't end up nuking each other (both in and out of character).

Kevo and Rebecca kissing in a tree!

The Washington Family had the joy(?) of hearing that Kevo will be marrying Queen Rebecca, cousin to Libertarian Washington, the family patriarch. After weeks of courting the fair Queen behind the region's back, Rebecca has finally accepted Kevo's persistent advances! Minister Lewis and Daniel (we don't know which one specifically) will wed the lovely couple. The response from the region has been overwhelmingly good although there are those exceptions. Robertsonstan Washington has expressed disgust at being related to a heathen like Kevo, even through marriage. There is also Hunteiria, who no one really knows what side she is on because she won't stop yelling at her husband Mytzonia, the poor sod. Nevertheless, wedding bells will soon be ringing in the Allied Republics! The date of the wedding will be announced soon. If you are invited, bring a gift and some tolerance to alcohol.

Quote of the Month!

Quote:

Libertarian Washington > Who's joking? Tongue

PDS > What was the joke again?

TNR > LW's sex life.
