The Armed Republic of Ancient Races
#1
After a long period of isolationism, our leader The Ancient One (Paul) has decided that our nation is ready to enter the diplomatic stage and make contact with other nations! An introduction to our country:"The Armed Republic of Ancient Races is a large, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its quiet, industrious population of 26 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often. The large government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 23%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Trout Farming industries. The nation is ravaged by daily union strikes, it is a crime to offend someone's religious beliefs, the government is cutting back on the number of political prisoners executed each year, and punitive tariffs protect local industry. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ancient Races's national animal is the ancient lion and its currency is the golden rose."Since we have almost no experience in dealing with other nations, but would like to contribute to our region's welfare, please give us some suggestions to how the diplomatic 'game' works Smile

Here are some basics to The Game of Diplomacy (similar to The Game of Life, but Diplomacy deals with less whining and complaining):

-In diplomacy, one must always realize that the other person has pressing needs that may be more important than you think you are.

-You must never allow that person to walk all over you, but you must not walk all over that person; RESPECT (just like Aretha said) is key.

-You can demand all you want and not get anything. But it is when you suggest that something gets done.

Keep in mind that I'm not the Foreign Advisor; this is just from reading Dale Carnige's How to Win Friends and Influence People.

And, before I forget (I forget things often), I want to welcome you to The South Pacific. Enjoy life here!

You cant really, if there is a nation you wish to keep an eye on add it to your dossier. In every nation's page there is a link to add the nation in qestion to your dossier, this way you simply open the dossier and jump to that nation.Welcome to the south pacific, ancient one.

That is a good start, we really need more commited SP members. Perhaps we should organise some sort of advertising campaign on the SP board to get more people to come to the forums and participate in the running of the SP.

While you are at it help me as well, I have been here for a while and still cant make it work. It always says it cannot be found.

The only way you will get results is if you type the exact name of the nation.
Reply
#23
With its prefix? ie the socialist repulics of... or just the name, becouse no matter what I try it always says it dosen't exist.

It's always worked for me. Like you just type my name, Geomania, and you'd get my nation. You don't have to type the prefix, such as "The People's Republic of."
