HEM's application v2
#1
1. Have you previously held the position of administrator on a web forum? If so, when, how long, and for what software?

A brief timeline of my active administrator roles. All but the last are NS regions.

Empires of Earth: 2007 - 2009 (Overseeing phpbb2 and later Invisionfree)

The Land of Kings and Emperors: Various times in 2007, and 2009 (Invisionfree)

Europeia (Chief Administrator): 2007 - Present (Invisionfree and then Zetaboards)

American Government Simulation: December - March 2011 (IPB)

2. Do you have knowledge of programming languages?

No

3. Do you have experience with HTML, CSS, and or JavaScript?

I frequently played with it on forums, and was highly regarded with using it back in 2007 -  2009. That being said, in comparison to those who have formal training I am a novice at best.

4. Do you have knowledge of IP addresses?

Yes.

5. Have you ever been a moderator on our forum or another NS forum? If so, have you had to moderate a difficult situation and what was the outcome?

On my last application I spoke about the porn spam attacks, but in the interest of being original I have a new situation. Speaking broadly, it can be difficult at times to know when to act as an administrator. Especially as a player in a government simulation, there is a very huge swath of grey area between our roleplay and the rules of the board. I almost always prefer to allow the roleplay regulate itself, but there have been many times due to obscenity, harassment, etc. I have had to make judgement calls to act immediately. These are almost always difficult situations because the player being penalized is going to moan about his "rights". Having the confidence and experience to make those calls is extremely important.

6. What is the most important part of being an administrator on a forum?

Being reasonable and understanding your role in a team. An admin cannot be biased, take sides frequently, or use administrative powers to even slightly benefit anyone. This compromises the integrity of the team.

You also must have an understanding of the team and respect for everyone's role and your own. Make sure your work gets done while contributing to the overall team (ie admin tasks)

7. Will you have a considerable amount of time to dedicate to administrative duties if selected? When are you most free?

After my exams end on December 11th, I should have a great deal of time for a few weeks to get going. During next semester I should be able to be on daily and will communicate all necessary absences in advance (though there will be some absences).

I am a member of the Committee for State Security. Yay safe region!
Feel free to PM me with any questions / concerns Smile

Bizarre scenario: Unibot asked you a non-loaded question about TNI or the UDL. How would you react?
