(forgive me for posting here, but since TSP has closed the TWP Embassy, I don't know where else to post it.  Feel free to move it as you feel may be appropriate)

Statement on the Termination of the Treaty between The West Pacific and Gatesville Inc

The West Pacific has formally informed Gatesville Inc that we have terminated the The Alco-Choco-Klingon Treaty between our regions.

The High Council of Gatesville Inc requested our support from the outset of events in Osiris. Our Treaty did not require The West Pacific to support such extra-regional non-defense adventures on their behalf, and we refused both their request for military assistance and their request for an ingame Embassy with Osiris. We understood that this left the Gateville leadership disappointed in our response.

Neither did The West Pacific provide support for the government of Osiris, which has closed all relations with us. We cannot give aid and support to those that have closed themselves against us, and refused to engage in discussions on the matter at any level. We have, however, come to understand that the closing of relations between Osiris and The West Pacific was an action taken upon the sole authority of Douria, overriding the objection of the members of the Osiris Government.  This is unfortunate, and frankly suspicious and perhaps opportunistic.  We nonetheless recognize the authority of the Osiris Delegate to engage in such decisionmaking.

A full investigation into the events in Osiris has uncovered a number of troubling concerns. Not least of which is Gatesville's association with members of the Aezean Combine, who's members are known to violate the provisions of the C.O.P.S. Treaty. They have a history of engagement in activities to destroy regions and their forums, with reckless and reprehensible disregard for the regions and player communities they target. The West Pacific holds the provisions of the C.O.P.S. Treaty to be inviolable, and finds that Gatesville's seeking of their support violates all bounds of respect and propriety among NationStates nations and regions.

Investigations have also shown that Gateville High Council members misrepresented a number of issues both during Treaty negotiations and during recent events in Osiris.  There is no place in NationStates for allied regions that misrepresent themselves and circumstances to to their allies in order to manipulate their support for adventurism in one of our fellow Game Created Regions.  The misrepresentations included, but were not limited to, issues concerning the Sovereign Confederation, direct threats to the security of The West Pacific, and claims of control over The West Pacifc and other regions and individuals.  Furthermore, it was made clear to us that the actions being taken by Gatesville are a 'personal vendetta', which we cannot support in NationStates gameplay.

We have also taken full note of the betrayal of our fellow Feeder The Pacific by Gaspo on behalf of Gatesville Inc.  We were concerned and had suspicions that there were plots against The Pacific, but had no details or information on that threat.  The West Pacific is relieved that the threat posed by Gatesville against them has been addressed.

Those who remain allied to Gatesville Inc, and especially those that continue to provide substantial support to their efforts in Osiris would do well to consider that the High Council has no reservations about misleading their allies and violating any trust that may have been established.  Their stated goals to bring 'fun' to NationStates is carried out with no respect to foes and allies alike, and only provide self-aggrandizement in thier persuit of 'personal vendetta'.

The following message was delivered to Gatesville Inc:

A full investigation into the events in Osiris has uncovered a number of troubling concerns.  Not least of which is Gatesville's association with members of the Aezean Combine, who's members include those known to have violated the provisions of the C.O.P.S. Treaty. The West Pacific holds the provisions of the C.O.P.S Treaty to be inviolable.

The C.O.P.S.Treaty states:

<blockquote class="ipsBlockquote">
no such act shall be ordered, condoned or accepted as legal by us or those nations and regions whom we represent and influence.

It is with great disappointment that The West Pacific hereby formally informs Gatesville Inc that we are terminating our treaty effective immediately, and consider the The Alco-Choco-Klingon Treaty to be Null and Void.  This association is reprehensible and violates all bounds of respect and propriety among NationStates nations and regions.  Continued association with Aezean Combine and other known violators of the C.O.P.S. Treaty will result in the complete severance of all diplomatic relations between our regions.

Furthermore let be it known that Gateville High Council members misrepresented a number of issues both during Treaty negotiations and during recent events in Osiris.  There is no place for allied regions to misrepresent and manipulate their allies in support for adventurism in one of our fellow Game Created Regions.  Treaties are engaged in at a level of trust which has not been respected by Gatesville.  Whether intentional or not, whether by plan or by incompetence doesn't matter. Gatesville behavior has offended The West Pacific.

That is entirely possible ... but only if the two great regions will be able to agree to disagree about who/what constitutes the 'legal' delegate and the reach of forum-side v. game-side control of the delegate.  The nice thing is ... friends don't have to be clones to be friends.

Well..Is not like I didn't expected this, TSP and TWP might not be the best friends, but they're not blind enough to remain 100% neutral after these issues. So like HEM said, good call.

It may happen with TWP and TSP but the US and DPRK (North Korea)? Never most likely.
